During her professional career she has worked as an internal and external corporate lawyer. A large part of her experience was acquired in the Oil & Gas sector, where she worked for several years as an internal lawyer for one of the largest international oil service companies in Ecuador, providing support to the production and administrative segments in all legal matters arising from the operation (contracts with suppliers and subcontractors, occupational health and safety, environmental law, corporate law, labor law, etc.).
She also provided support to the company’s legal departments in Peru and Colombia. As a lawyer responsible for corporate and litigation matters in Peru, Colombia and Ecuador (PCE), she oversaw the issuance of general and special powers-of-attorney, deeds, change of legal representatives and other corporate matters for thirteen legal entities at the PCE level. She was also responsible for the management and monitoring of external firms, and all litigations throughout these three countries.
Additionally, María Fernanda handled all the company’s issues related to “Compliance”, including annual audits and staff training on company policies and standards for proper operations execution in each country. She acted as judicial attorney for the company in Ecuador in several legal matters before administrative authorities.
She also worked in Venezuela, where she offered support to the operating segments in risk analyses arising from contracts with clients and subcontractors, the review and negotiation of terms and conditions, and tender participation with the State oil company and its affiliates.
